Habits that keep you in
Attendance predicts GPA more than SAT scores
A 2010 meta-analysis of 28,000 students found attendance correlates with final grades at r=.44. Stronger than any other factor. Show up even when you're behind.
Email your professor before week 6. Not after.
After the midterm your options narrow fast. One email this week (introduce yourself, acknowledge where you stand, ask what you missed) changes how a professor sees you for the rest of the semester.
The withdrawal deadline exists for exactly this situation
A W doesn't touch your GPA. An F counts as 0.0 — permanently. The UNLV withdrawal deadline is on the Registrar's website right now. Go look at it today, not next week.
The UNLV Support Team can contact all your professors at once
For medical, family, or personal situations, the UNLV Support Team sends official notifications to all your professors simultaneously. One call instead of seven difficult conversations.
A bad semester can sometimes disappear from your transcript
UNLV's Voluntary Health Withdrawal removes an entire semester from your transcript with no GPA impact if a medical or psychological condition significantly affected your performance. Most students don't know this exists.
Financial aid suspension has a defined appeal process with high approval rates
A SAP violation is not the end of your financial aid. A well-documented appeal (medical situation, family emergency, personal crisis) gets approved at high rates. The Financial Aid office has staff who help you build it.
Everything Semestr can do
